Junior Research Paper
Your CC Library has a lot of great resources available to you: print sources, databases, and ebooks! Why use a database? As that tutorial explained, there are a lot of great resources locked behind a paywall that Google can't access, so let the CC Library Resources work for you! Start your research journey at the CC Library homepage, and select a specific database or start a PowerSearch. You'll be able to save the articles you find, and YOUR CITATION, right to your Google Drive. Remember, Google does not cite your sources! When using our online resources from home, remember your password is shamrock.
One of the benefits of using Library resources is that you can be assured that you are accessing reliable and credible information. Information located through an internet search needs to be evaulated before deciding to incorporate it into your paper. One such method of evaluation is the CRAAP test, is your information Current, Relevant, Accurate, written by an Authority on the subject, and what is the author's Purpose? Employ strategies such as lateral reading (do a side search on the author or website), critical observation, and reverse image searching. Utilize Allsides for unbiased, balanced news coverage on current events.
When looking for a print source, check out the CC Catalog. If you can't find what you are looking for, check your public library. If your teacher allows you to use an ebook, MeL has a great ebook collection available for free. This tutorial will show you how to use the resource.
This video tutorial will walk you through the research process.
